Arrivals and Dismissals
The school day officially begins at 9:25 a.m. and concludes at 3:25 p.m. Please note that there is no movement of cars in the bus parking lot until after all students are dismissed from the building.
ARRIVAL PROCEDURES
ARRIVAL
During morning arrival, parents are not permitted to exit their cars. It is expected that all cars follow the traffic flow patterns at each respective building.
Primary Building (K and 1st)
If you are dropping off a student at the Primary Building, please enter the campus at Gate B:

Students must enter the building via the Primary Multi-Purpose Room.

There is a single lane only for student drop-off. In the single lane, cars must pull up to the staff member stationed near the curb.

Students must exit out of the right-hand side of the car onto the sidewalk and will be directed to the Primary Multi-Purpose Room. The staff member will assist your child into the building so that parent/guardian can remain in the car.

As soon as the car in front of you begins to exit, please follow immediately, exiting from Gate C.
Intermediate Building (2nd, 3rd, and 4th)
If you are dropping off a student to the Intermediate Building, please enter the campus at Gate A.

Students must enter the building via the Intermediate Main Entrance.

Students must exit out of the right-hand side of the car onto the sidewalk. Staff members will be present to assist your child into the building so that parent/guardian can remain in the car.

Students will then wait in the Intermediate Cafeteria.

Drivers will exit the campus from Gate B.
DISMISSAL PROCEDURES
DISMISSAL
Occasional Pick-Up At Dismissal:
If you plan to occasionally pick up your child at dismissal, please call the respective office by 2:45 p.m. on that day prior to arriving at the building by 3:00 p.m. for safety reasons.

Kindergarten and first grade parents/guardians occasionally picking up their child must please park outside the gates and walk around the right side of the Primary building to the Multi-purpose room door with photo identification by 3:00 p.m. The dismissal announcement for children being picked up will begin at 3:20 p.m.

Second, third, and fourth grade parents/guardians occasionally picking up their child must please park in a parking slot and walk to the back (baseball field) of the Intermediate building to the Multi-Purpose Room entrance with photo identification by 3:00 p.m. The dismissal announcement for children being picked up will begin at 3:20 p.m.
Everyday Pick-Up At Dismissal:
Parents/Guardians who will pick up their child everyday at dismissal will send a note the first time only. Children who are signed up as being an everyday pick up will be known as “Everyday Walkers”. Upon your arrival beginning at 3:00 p.m., please exit your vehicle.

Everyday Walkers
Everyday Walkers
Children who are “Everyday Walkers” will be escorted by staff and dismissed daily, unless you notify the respective office of any exceptions. Following initial photo identification and signature verification, parents/guardians of everyday walkers will not need to provide a daily signature.

Parents/Guardians are not permitted to enter nor wait in the buildings unless signed in according to Longwood Central School District’s policy for safety reasons.

After you receive your child/children, please safely exit the school grounds promptly so that regular bus dismissal may begin.

There will be no movement of vehicles in the bus parking lot until after all students are dismissed from both buildings for safety reasons.

In the event that inclement weather causes school closing, the district will notify parents through our automated messaging system.
Announcements will also be posted on the district website, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and the following radio and television stations

Delayed Openings
Schedules on days with delays are as follows:
One hour delay - start time 10:25 a.m.
Two-hour delay - start time 11:25 a.m.
Emergency School Closings After The Start Of School
If emergency weather conditions or other emergencies develop during the school day, children will be dismissed early. Please be sure to create a plan with your child if you are not home.
Be sure to plan now, and appoint someone to meet your child at the bus stop in your absence. Make sure both your child and your designee are both familiar with your plan.
